WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This workshop is intended for team leaders and team members seeking to
enhance team performance through trusting relationships among team
members and throughout the organization. Anyone working in a team
environment would benefit from this workshop.
OVERVIEW
Teams, the principal organizing unit for most work in organizations,
frequently do not live up to their potential due to a critical
"missing ingredient" - Trust. Trust is one of the cornerstones for
teams to actualize their productivity potential. Unfortunately, most
team leaders and members do not know how to increase levels of trust.
This process creates a framework to make that happen.
The purpose of Teams, Trust and Productivity is to provide a method
for teams to become more successful. Trust among team members is at
the heart of productivity. The focus of this process is to improve the
levels of trust within the team and across groups, all leading to
improved performance.
Trust pays dividends. Trust is a bottom line business imperative. It
is a critical component to build and sustain highly successful and
high performing teams and organizations. In our constantly changing
organizations, it is an essential ingredient for people to take higher
levels of risk with each other in order for innovation to occur.
Research has consistently shown that more and more people in
organizations spend more of their time working in groups. Those same
people speak about how low levels of trust and poor communication lead
to performance far below the group's potential. Do you believe that
the performance of teams you are in or know of could be substantially
improved? Do you believe that increasing levels of trust between
groups could improve performance substantially?
By developing the strategies and skills to build trust, this program
provides a solid foundation for enabling people to learn how to take
personal responsibility for improving performance.
At the outset of the process, existing trust levels are established
and linked to key business measures of the team. Team members identify
how improving trust will improve the key business measures they need
to achieve their objectives and become part of the plan to deepen
trust.
One of the challenges in building trust is that people do not agree on
what behaviors are linked to what dimensions. Like "respect", everyone
has his or her own understanding (often unarticulated) of what "trust"
is. Being able to grasp the dimensions with linked behaviors
facilitates the development of deeper levels of trust.
LEARNING CONTENT AREAS
"Windows into Trust", a 360° feedback instrument, is a behaviorally
anchored assessment used to assess current levels of trust across
seven dimensions. Team members receive feedback from each other, their
team leader, and others whom they choose. An individual report and a
team report indicate which dimensions and behaviors are strengths and
which behaviors and dimensions need improvement in order to achieve
the levels of trust required to improve performance.
Strategies and skills essential for building trust to increase
personal and organizational performance are:

Being able to take risks with team members

Knowing how to increase integrity and credibility

Facing up to and working through issues on the team

Identifying and working through the power dynamics
This two day workshop is a cornerstone for building trust that can
stand on its own, be combined in a format for working with intact
groups, and be effective as part of larger organizational leadership
and change interventions.
COURSE METHODOLOGY

This course is structured to provide maximum practice, group
interaction, and feedback. Practice sessions will be videotaped for
personal feedback. The course leader will contract with each
