Experiential Learning
UA emphasizes the value of learner involvement and understanding. The
foundation of the program is The Experiential Learning Cycle – widely
acknowledged as a fundamental adult learning model. The process of
experiencing, publishing, processing, generalizing, and applying
allows learners to become involved both cognitively and affectively to
make maximum use of their own insights, obtained from actual
experience.
Program curriculum is based on the integration of sound business
practices and adult learning technologies to improve bottom-line
results. Participants gain and expand their knowledge of techniques
and skills to increase their impact within an organizational
environment.
How The Program Is Structured
The UA Intern Program is delivered in three five-day phases. Each
phase begins on a Monday and ends the following Friday – consequently,
participants are away from the workplace for only five days per phase.
As a residential program, participants are afforded the opportunity to
glean the maximum amount of learning by establishing long lasting,
rewarding and collaborative relationships with other professionals
from an extensive variety of industries. Historically, participants
have come from many states and several countries.
All phases involve intensive sessions incorporating presentations,
structured experiences, opportunity for practice, small and large
group work, readings, pre-work, and individual reflection. Each phase
of the program concentrates on different aspects of individual,
group/team, and organizational development. Participants are required
to complete all three phases as scheduled within each year.
