The Human Element® - Core Course
August 16-18,
2006 in Chicago, IL
US$1,099
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This workshop is presented either as a public seminar or within
organizations to intact work teams. It is designed for executives,
managers, and work team members interested in increasing their
personal effectiveness in all aspects of personal and professional
life.
Participants will appreciate this practical model of human
interaction applied to organizational life to produce quantum leaps
in productivity and worker morale. Consultants and trainers will
recognize the tools and techniques employed in the workshop as an
integrated set of "human technologies" for improving group
performance and the quality of work life. These technologies offer a
method for understanding and improving relationships and living a
more conscious self-determining life.
OVERVIEW
The Human Element®Core Course is an intensive three-day workshop
designed to equip participants with the skills to transform
themselves and their organizations into motivated, productive units.
This workshop provides an integrated approach to understanding and
improving "the human element" in all aspects of personal and
organizational life. In a workplace challenged by increasing market
pressure, limited resources, rapid turnaround times, and a
downsizing workforce, this workshop provides a rare opportunity for
thoughtful introspection to honestly reassess one's behavior, style,
and impact on others.
The essential concepts of the seminar are 1) establishing an open
work environment, 2) increasing individual responsibility, and 3)
increasing self-awareness through the FIRO™(Fundamental
Interpersonal Relations Orientation) model. The FIRO™model, and its
related material, is utilized on five continents, translated into
many languages, and constitutes one of the most widely applied
methodologies in the field.
LEARNING CONTENT AREAS
The workshop is presented through brief lectures, scientifically
valid self-assessment questionnaires (the FIRO™Elements), group
feedback sessions, guided imagery, non-verbal activities, and skills
practice.
Major content areas and goals of the workshop encompass:
-
Demystifying Human Behavior:
Introduce FIRO™Element B™(Behavior) and the FIRO™model as a simple
yet profound approach to understanding individuals, interpersonal
relations, and teams through the three dimensions of human
interaction (inclusion, control, and openness).
-
Developing Emotional Intelligence:
Expand the FIRO™model using FIRO™Element F™(Feelings) to
understand the motivations underlying behavior - human emotions.
Introduce the dimensions of human feelings - significance,
competence, and likeability - and their relation to specific
behaviors.
-
Understanding Self-Concept:
Use FIRO™Element S™(Self) to gain insight into the ultimate source
and motivation of all human behavior and feelings; the self-concept.
Learn the components of self-concept, measure the current level of
self-esteem, develop strategies for improving self-esteem and
creating environments that allow others to do the same.
-
Eliminating Defensiveness:
Develop an understanding of the unconscious coping mechanisms or
defenses we use to avoid confronting unpleasant feelings. Assess
impact of defenses on personal and work relations, conflict
resolution, and productivity. Identify successful strategies to
overcome defensive tendencies to make positive use of constructive
feedback.
