Conducting Effective Meetings
Building agendas
and leading meetings are valuable
contributions to accomplishing the strategic
plan of the organization
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This program is for managers, leaders, and facilitators who are
interested in building and implementing powerful agendas for meetings
in their organizations.
OVERVIEW
This workshop will help you better appreciate meetings as one of the
greatest opportunities in any organization. Unfortunately, they are
often wasted opportunities. Obviously, meetings give you the chance to
accomplish their stated purpose but they also provide the time and
settings to enhance the corporate culture, build stronger
relationships among colleagues and use the collective wisdom of those
gathered.
The tendency to crunch the agenda to get in and out as quickly as
possible is often built on the belief that the "real work" is done
outside of a meeting. But meetings should be considered "real work" as
they can make a solid contribution.
Meetings can:
-
Help people work more effectively together both inside and outside of
the meeting;
-
Build a climate in which people are willing to take risks for the sake
of the organization;
-
Move participants toward greater clarity about the mission and vision
of the organization;
-
Allow the potential synergy in the group to surface and flourish.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Participants in this two-day workshop will explore the components of
effective meetings and enhance their abilities to utilize meetings as
an integral part of the strategy for accomplishing their
organizational vision.
Participants will:
-
Enhance their ability to create and clearly articulate the purpose of
the meeting;
-
Become familiar with resources and methods for building stronger
working relationships among meeting participants;
-
Broaden their perspective on the purposes of meetings to include
clarity of mission and vision, impact of corporate culture and
day-to-day efforts and creative problem solving;
-
Practice leading a meeting segment and receive feedback on their
efforts;
-
Explore ways to use time in between meetings to lay groundwork for
effective meeting time.
