WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This workshop is designed for managers who require skill training to
improve their employee coaching skills.
OVERVIEW
This workshop defines the coaching process, presents a concept model,
and demonstrates the skills that support the process. The flow of the
workshop is designed so that participants assess their initial level
of competence in using information-developing skills, then moves
through the learning sequence, and concludes with practice sessions of
the learned skills. Participants work in small groups of 5 or 6 that
are re-formed several times during the two-day program.
LEARNING CONTENT AREAS
The workshop content is presented through the following learning
sequence:
-
Concepts are developed (the functions, goals, and processes of
coaching);
-
Skills required to use the coaching process are presented and
practiced;
-
The two complete coaching processes are practiced fully by each
participant;
-
Feedback about his/her own performance is provided to each participant
in a structured manner which allows precise evaluation skill
development;
-
Review and observation logs are used to encourage participants to
retain and apply their learnings;
-
The problem-solving skills questionnaire allows the participant to
measure the frequency with which he/she uses the problem-solving
conversational skills and avoids negative behaviors.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
-
Helps managers to understand the practical value of coaching as a
major performance-enhancement strategy;
-
Ensures that managers understand the basic process of coaching rather
than try to master an endless series of techniques for an unlimited
set of conditions;
-
Provides managers with a real-world model of coaching and coaching
skills which they can use to evaluate their performance;
-
Provides managers with specific feedback on their coaching
performance.
