WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This program is for every facilitator, manager or team leader who must
facilitate results in groups, project teams or meetings. Basic
facilitation skills in new group start-up, meeting mechanics, and
group dynamics are recommended (see the briefing for Understanding &
Facilitating Effective Groups as an introductory course).
OVERVIEW
This workshop is intended to advance the skills of facilitators
actively engaged in maximizing people involvement and business
results. In our increasingly complex business communications,
individual and organizational dynamics are ever present and often
require the support of a skilled person to help people reach their
desired goals.
The effective facilitator plays many roles: catalyst, coordinator,
business partner and coach. The repertoire of interventions needs to
be broad and deep. The advanced facilitator must possess exceptional
interpersonal skills, keen observational skills, and the ability to
maintain a view of the large organizational picture while acting in
the moment with the immediate local issues.
As groups and teams make their way through the cultural and political
forces of change, there is a need for the skilled facilitator to help
people work with issues of power and politics, loyalty and commitment
challenges, ambiguity, and uncertainty. Helping groups steer the
course through sometimes turbulent waters is an important element of
successful facilitation.
